Enough already!
Chronic anxiety controls your insides and wrecks every aspect of life on the outside.
Tiny stressors stack, and it feels like the world is ending. There’s so much to do; it all feels big and awful.
Muscles are tight, and your heart is pumping fast like you just ran a mile. A tension headache is surging while you notice your breath is shallow. Thoughts race and are all over the place.
Work has become impossible. Even though you have abilities, it’s tough to focus, and confidence takes a hit. You feel like an imposter and wonder if others notice your performance isn’t good enough.
Relationships are rough. In one moment, you have trouble stating your needs; in another, you’re yelling and demanding they’re met now.
Parenting your teen is like two teenagers in a boxing ring. If only you could stop overreacting, pause, and walk into the other room when things get heated.
And then there’s sleep…. what’s that? You can’t recall the last time you felt rested in the morning.
Leave the past in the past with Brainspotting.
Brainspotting gives the body and brain space to let go of painful and overwhelming experiences. The distress and activation tagged to painful memories can downshift dramatically within a session.
New beliefs and a sense of ease in the body emerge. You’ll be supported with grounded guidance so you can process stuck trauma and move toward new meaning and living without being bogged down by the past.
Bring down the volume with Neurofeedback.
Neurofeedback calms and balances the nervous system. With gentle reminders and repeated redirections on a deep level, the brain relearns how to self-regulate on it’s own, building a new default over time.
Collaborating together and bringing mindful attention to state changes in each session allows for individualizing the neurofeedback and guiding lasting change.
Sessions are held in compassionate listening.
Infants and children respond best when a steady, calm, and caring adult is present so they can move through big emotions and let them go.
Adults are no different. In fact, research shows that the most effective therapy involves an attuned listener who speaks little and hears much. Grounded presence invites mirroring of that state and allows activation to let go. Brains are highly relational.
Anchor in the present.
Focused mindfulness allows the system to unwind. Learning how to attune inside with curiosity, reduces stress and improves sleep, immune function, and overall health.
Relational attunement is offered within sessions, which is imperative for healing. We’ll give space to notice observable state changes throughout sessions to allow anxiety and trauma to release.
The client is like the butterfly; the therapist offers a soft place to land.
Calming from the inside.
Compassionate communication will develop inside as pieces of yourself that once felt stuck in the past, feel held and heard in the present.
Developing new ways to soothe yourself inside is fostered and strengthened and will be unique to you and your needs. This process creates new brain connections and habit patterns.
We’ll build on the tools and abilities you already have, as you gently let go of past wounds.
Hi, I’m Alison.
I’m human, too!
I’ve benefited from the methods I offer. They are tried and true. My first therapy experience was in high school and after just a few sessions, I knew this was my career path. Feeling deeply affirmed and understood was so healing and instrumental.
You have my commitment that I will be refreshed, attuned, and consistently grounded in each session. I value taking good care of myself – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
My daily practices include meditation and yoga, intuitive movement, nurturing connections, feeding my body with nourishing food, and enjoying nature or a good book.
Methods matter.
It’s been my mission over the years to find the most efficient and gentle methods to heal chronic anxiety and trauma. Lasting and profound change is possible for everyone.
If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m a training junky. I love learning new therapies and interventions and learn through experience.
It’s gratifying to offer methods to those who long for high impact and low effort and time.
Chronic anxiety doesn’t need to mean chronic therapy!
Healing is possible.
I’ve had the privilege to witness incredible transformations time and again.
We’ll work at the source – your nervous system! After all, brains are in charge of everything and can rewire.
All people can heal, no matter what they have endured.
Chronic anxiety and trauma are treatable.
A calmer life is within reach.
When I’m not working…
I enjoy walks on the nature trail near my home or hiking along the North Shore.
To unwind, I listen to the cardinals and chickadees on my porch or snuggle up with a good book and a cup of tea.
Fall is my favorite season. The reds and oranges are breathtaking and bug-free air is a bonus!
I also enjoy spending time with my quirky, fun-loving family, and connecting with friends.
Let’s carve out a new path together!
